The Dress Code Policy for St. Mary's School serves several purposes:
  • To support an academic and safe environment where emphasis is placed on study rather than style/fads and the need to compete or "keep up" with peers.
  • To create a neat and orderly student body which projects a positive Christian image for St. Mary's School.
  • No particular uniform is required
  • Students are to wear suitable clothes and school shoes (no clogs)
  • Please avoid blue jeans, bib-overalls, long dresses/skirts, and sweat suits
  • Tennis shoes are needed for physical education classes

 

  • Colors for shirts, blouses, turtlenecks, polo shirts, sweaters, socks and tights:  solid green, yellow, red, blue or white.  These are our school colors.
  • Skirts, blouses, turtlenecks, polo shirts (long and short sleeved) should be loose fitting; shirts must have collars; MUST BE TUCKED IN; blouses should not have ruffles; no bare midriffs showing; no low-cut necklines
  • Sweaters may be pullover style with crew or v-neck or cardigan style; St. Mary's sweatshirts can be worn with a collared shirt or turtleneck worn underneath; and sweaters should be loose fitting
  • Trousers may be khaki, dark navy/black dress or corduroy; belts are optional; trousers may not sag and should not have removable pant leg
  • Socks may be crew, knee or sport style; Holiday socks may be worn during the months of October, December, February, and March
  • Shoes should be dress or low-cut tennis shoes (different from gym shoes; no clogs; a specific pair of tennis shoes must be worn for physical education
  • T-shirts, if/when permitted to wear, must always have sleeves
  • Jumpers/Skirts may be St. Mary's plaid or plain navy blue
  • Shorts/Skorts may be worn from the beginning of school until October 15th and from April 15th to the end of the year; navy or black cotton twill or corduroy or khaki walking shorts or skorts are acceptable; no umbro, spandex, athletic, or denim shorts or skorts will be allowed; appropriate length - measure by standing with arms at side - shorts, skorts, and skirts must be longer than fingertips
